Supplemental Educational Services

On December 10, 2015, President Obama signed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), reauthorizing the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and replacing the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), the 2001 reauthorization of ESEA. In order to ensure an orderly transition to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), local educational agencies (LEAs) with schools identified in Program Improvement (PI) Year 2 and beyond must provide alternative supports to eligible students in the 2016 -17 school year. Eligible students are low income students who qualify for free or reduced priced meals.

Coachella Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) no longer contracts with outside providers to provide individual student tutoring as we were required to do in past years. CVUSD provides alternative supports for eligible students at the school sites during the regular school day, after school, and during the summer.
