Supplemental Educational Services

On December 10, 2015, President Obama signed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), reauthorizing the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and replacing the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), the 2001 reauthorization of ESEA. In order to ensure an orderly transition to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), local educational agencies (LEAs) with schools identified in Program Improvement (PI) Year 2 and beyond must provide alternative supports to eligible students in the 2016 -17 school year. Eligible students are low income students who qualify for free or reduced priced meals.

During this 2016-2017 transition year, Coachella Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) will NOT be contracting with outside providers to provide services as we have in past years. CVUSD will be providing alternative supports for eligible students at the school sites during the regular school day, after school in collaboration with the ASES program, and during the summer.
