ABOUT US…...

Building Strong Early Foundations for Over 50 Years

For more than 50 years, Coachella Valley Unified School District’s Children and Family Services Department has proudly supported young children and their families through our Head Start and State Preschool programs. For many families, we are their first connection to our District, and we are honored to be part of such an important stage in their child’s educational journey.

Our department is committed to providing a high-quality, child-centered preschool experience where every child feels welcomed, valued, and inspired to learn. Through play-based, developmentally appropriate practices, we create meaningful opportunities that nurture curiosity, confidence, creativity, and growth.

We believe that a strong social-emotional foundation is essential to school readiness and lifelong success. Our dedicated early childhood professionals provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences that support the whole child and help prepare children for transitional kindergarten, kindergarten, and beyond.

A Strong Start for Every Child

Play-Based, Child-Centered Learning

We believe young children learn best through meaningful play, exploration, and hands-on experiences. Our classrooms are designed to nurture curiosity, creativity, and joyful learning through developmentally appropriate practices that honor how young children grow and learn.

Whole-Child Development

We are committed to supporting every aspect of a child’s growth—social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical. By building strong relationships, fostering independence, and creating nurturing learning environments, we help children develop the confidence and foundational skills they need for success in school and in life.

Strong Family Partnerships

We believe families are a child’s first and most important teachers. Through our Head Start and State Preschool programs, we partner closely with families to support children’s learning, strengthen connections between home and school, and create a welcoming community where every family feels valued and supported.
