Yesterday was a memorable day for our district! The California State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Thurmond, visited the valley to assess the damages of tropical storm Hilary and offer his assistance to our community. He visited the temporary shelter at Desert Mirage High School and thanked the Red Cross personnel and our staff for caring for the displaced families during this emergency. He also participated in the teacher training event and graciously answered questions from the audience. Later in the day, Mr. Thurmond met with Dr. Valentino, Dr. Esparza, and Board members to offer assistance for the displaced families as well as with current and future district educational initiatives. Thank you, #TonyThurmond, for spending the day at the #CoachellaValleyUSD.
