CVUSD Apple IDs (New)

CVUSD Apple IDs (New)

  • Federating Apple IDs grants us the ability to "claim" all Apple IDs that use the @cvusd.us domain name. This means that only the Coachella Valley Unified School District can create Apple IDs with these domains and any Apple ID that ends with @cvusd.us can only be used with Coachella Valley Unified School District devices moving forward.

The move to Federated Apple ID may require some interaction from you.  There are answers some common questions and as well as instructions on moving to a Federated Apple ID below.

    • It provides the major benefit of connecting the Apple ID password to our current network accounts (i.e., the same password functions for both Apple ID and CVUSD Domain Account).
    • For educational institutions and organizations, this model is the industry standard in fully integrating with mobile device management.
    • Adds benefits to our users like additional free iCloud space and single sign-on capabilities.

Next Steps

1.Screenshot of a phone screen with the text 'Update AppleID Email'.

Updating the email address for your Apple ID only changes the email address you use when you sign in to your Apple ID. The data and purchases associated with your account remain with your account and aren't affected.

2.Hands interacting with a laptop and a connected device, with text overlay: Transfer iCloud Pictures.

Only the most recent edits of photos and videos are transferred. To save space, if a photo or video already exists in Google Photos, only one copy of the photo or video is kept. When possible, photos are transferred within their albums. Videos are transferred separately and won’t be in albums.

3.Image showing the text 'Transfer Notes' with Apple Notes and Google Keep icons.

Google Keep is Google's version of a note-taking app — but there's more to it than basic checklists or quick thoughts taken down in a moment of inspiration. It automatically syncs to Google Drive, so you can access it from any device where you use your Google account, whether it be a computer or your phone,

4.  A laptop, phone, tablet, and smartwatch are displayed, with the text 'Sign Out of All Devices'.

You can sign out of iCloud any time you like to stop using iCloud and its related services on your device. These services are listed below. Before signing out, make sure that you’re comfortable having these services turned off.

5. Apple ID Login button with Apple logo and colorful background.

An Apple ID is the personal account you use to access Apple services like the App Store, iCloud, Messages, the Apple Online Store, FaceTime, and more. It includes the information you use to sign in, as well as all the contact, payment, and security details that you’ll use across Apple services.

6. Image showing a phone with an AppleID Password Reset message.

This resource is meant to help you reset a forgotten password. For your security, you will answer a few questions to verify that you’re the owner of this AppleID you are attempting to Reset.

FAQ

  • You do not lose anything that was purchased with funds.  They will all be moved to the new Apple ID that you must create as part of the Federated Apple ID process.

  • No.  This is a legitimate email from Apple that you received if you created an Apple ID with the @cvusd.us domain.  It looks like the picture below.

  • In short, you must change the email address on your @cvusd.us Apple ID to a different email address because the Coachella Valley Unified School District is "claiming" the domains that end in @cvusd.us so the District has control over who uses them.  If you do not change your @cvusd.us email address associated with this Apple ID, by [Date], Apple will move your @cvusd.us to a temporary account, and you must claim the Apple ID. You must change your Apple ID to use any email address that is not currently associated with another Apple ID and does not end in @cvusd.us
