Migrant Education
The goal of the Migrant Education Program in Coachella Valley Unified School District is to ensure that all migrant students reach academic excellence and graduate with a high school diploma. The Migrant Education Program provides supplemental programs and services that are federally funded. Theses programs and services designed to enrich and respond to the educational and emotional needs of Migrant students in Coachella Valley Unified School District. In CVUSD we support our Migrant students in the Migrant After School Program for grades K-8 offered in selected schools during the school year and summer school. We work with teachers in providing standards based instruction to strengthen literacy, writing, and math skills. Migrant high school students participate in various services including Speech and Debate, Migrant Leaders Club, Collage and CAMP visits, academic counseling, leadership conferences, academic tutoring and credit recovery, and much more!

What is the Migrant Education Program?
The Migrant Education Program is for the purpose of assisting students from migrant families to succeed in school. There are a number of organized, support activities designed to help migrant students achieve this goal.
Who qualifies for the Migrant Education Program?
Only students from parents or families who have "migrated" away from this local area in search of farm work, packing shed work or to work in fisheries during the last three years qualify as migrant students. This applies whether employment was found or not. In addition, students from families who come to the area in search of farm work, also qualify.
If I believe my children qualify to participate in the Migrant Education Program, what do I need to do?
You need to contact the Migrant Education Community Assistants at your child's school site to fill out the Certificate of Eligibility (COE). Professional staff will assist you be answering your questions, providing you with the necessary forms, and will ensure that your child/children are properly identified as "migrant student/s" within the school system.

El programa de Educacion Migrante es para asistir a estudiantes de familias migratorias a tener exito en la escuela. Existen varias actividades organizadas para apoyar a los estudiantes migrantes con el fin de que logren tener exito en su educacion.
¿Quien califica para participar en El Programa de Educacion Migrante?
Solamente estudiantes de padres o familias que han “migrado” alejandose de sus hogares en busca de empleo como campesinos, trabajadores de empaques, o en viveros de peces durante los ultimos tres anos califican como estudiantes migrantes. Esto aplica aunque los miembros de la familia no hayan encontrado trabajo. Ademas, estudiantes de familias que regularmente vienen a esta area en busca de trabajaos ya senalados tambien qalifican.
Si yo pienso que mis hijos califican para participar en El Programa Migrante ¿que necesito hacer?
Necesita ponerse en contacto con el Personal del Programa de Educacion Migrante en la escuela de su nino/a y llenar el Certificado de Elegibilidad (COE). Personal profesional le assistara en contestar sus preguntas, proporcionandole las formas necesarias, y asegurara que sus hijos sean identificados como “migrantes” dentro del Sistema escolar.
