Individual Education Plan (IEP)

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires the development of an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for every student ages 3 - 22 who is eligible for special education and/or related services. The IEP must be reviewed at least annually and developed by a team comprised of one or both of the student's parents or a guardian, the student (when appropriate), a special education teacher, a general education teacher, related service providers (if applicable), all individuals who assess the student (if applicable), and one Local Education Area (LEA) Administrator. Other individuals who have knowledge or special expertise regarding the student may also attend at the discretion of the parent/guardian or the school district.

Every three years, the student must be re-evaluated to determine continued eligibility for special education services.
