State Seal of Biliteracy

The State Seal of Biliteracy  (SSB) is a prestigious recognition for graduating high school students who have attained a high level of proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English. The State Seal of Biliteracy is marked by a gold seal affixed to the diploma or transcript. Each academic year, Coachella Valley Unified School District recognize students in 12th grade who have demonstrate proficiency in English and in a language other than English with this special seal on the diploma. The State has defined the criteria by which students may earn this recognition. 

The State Seal of Biliteracy award aligns with Coachella Valley Unified School District's commitment that every student graduates prepared and equipped with the knowledge and skills to effectively participate in a global, social, and economic context. The award honors the rich linguistic and cultural assets of CVUSD and communicates that mastery of two or more languages as an important skills for our students.
